day 7
{i risked my knees for these photographs}

dead and dying

day 6

{tree cemetary}

who knows how many times i've driven past the expanse of dead forest that lines eastern lake in my days growing up in good ol' srb. i've always been enchanted by how stoic and elegant they are in their constancy. never living or completely dead, like crooked driftwood skeletons.

day 5

{headshots for kaylyn}

my lovely little sister is an actress. she interns at a professional theatre and needs headshots for the professional shows she acts in. she's probably cooler than you.

if you're in seaside, fl this summer you should go to the seaside REP and support local performing arts!

swimmingly

one $

day 4

{before}

{after}

{after}

i'm constantly on an art student's budget so this $4 project was wonderfully gratifying (thankfully, i already had the spray paint handy). i bought the blue/gold frames and the plastic "crystal" vases at the dollar store...sprayed a little paint and VOILA! sunny yellow frames and faux milk-glass vases (those will have to do until the day my antique glassware facination aligns with my wallet)

i filled the frames with a favorite william eggleston print (i'm obsessed with this man's photography) and a clipping from a recent antique bookstore browse--a better home's and gardens book on flower arranging circa 1965 that's full of beautiful technicolor photographs. i filled the vases with fake and dried stuff :)

day 2

{"water haunts"}

the most beautiful day ever at wakulla springs with jackie. we're going back a lot this summer we've decided...with a camera and more ideas :) more to come hopefully!

ready, steady...

day 1
{yay for conducive art-making spaces!}

after the shameful neglect of my home working (and sleeping) space during those dreadful end of the year finals, my room had gotten a little out of hand. ok, a lot. so the first day's project: clean and organize all earthly possessions.

make something new every day :: summer 2010

it's a late start but i figured it'd never be too late to start, so here i am, a month into my summer vacay and ready to BLOG. after seeing the success of my lovely friend jackie's m.s.e.d. blog i knew i needed to do the same...

(http://suertedia.blogspot.com-- follow this thang)

definitely a good way to keep busy and motivated to make things on these sweltering tallahassee summer days (and nights, for owls like myself). let's turn this sucker into a personal achievement!

another sunny day

When the half light makes for a clearer view
Sleep a little more if you want to
But restlessness has seized me now, it’s true
I could watch the dreams flicker in your eyes
Lying here asleep on a sunbeam
I wonder if you realise you fascinate me so

Think about a new destination
If you think you need inspiration
Roll out the map and mark it with a pin
I will follow every direction
Just lace up your shoes while I’m fetching a sleeping bag, a tent...
Another summer’s passing by
All I need is somewhere I feel the grass beneath my feet
A walk on sand, a fire I can warm my hands
My joy will be complete

I thought about a new destination
I’m never short of new inspiration
Roll out the map and mark it with a gin
Made my plans to conquer the country
I’m waiting for you to get out of your situation
With your job and with your life

All I need is somewhere I feel the grass beneath my feet
A walk on sand
A fire, I can warm my hands
My joy will be complete
